My obsession with fall continues...

This week was super crazy! I started my Internship with Color in Motion on Wednesday as their blog writer, and I had so much to do for my other classes. My days are so long, but I’m enjoying every minute of it because everything I’m doing is going to help me in my future career. So, you won’t see me complaining even if I walk about 3 miles every day with a heavy backpack on. It has actually been quite nice walking everywhere because I have been able to witness the beauty of fall all around. Living in Idaho may seem like a boring, brown place to live, but I have pictures to prove that it’s not.

I went on a run this morning, and it was probably the best run ever. So much color! For all my Florida friends who don’t get to experience fall the way I do, these pictures are for you.

My obsession for fall will probably never end. I could live in this season forever!

Well, off to enjoy the rest of my weekend. Bonfire and s’mores tonight with my PRSSA family!

Short Post BIG News!

In my last post I said that this week could be the start of something exciting. And it most certainly is!

As a communication major, we are required to have an internship in order to graduate. I’ve been looking for an internship since January, and I haven’t had much luck...UNTIL NOW! Let me just say that Twitter is a WONDERFUL thing! (You can follow me here @_christielsmith) Without Twitter I wouldn’t have found out about the internship!

Color in Motion 5k is the company I will be interning with. I'm going to be the official blogger for their website. Super cool, right?! Some of you may have heard of the color run, where you run a 5k and by the end of the run you’re all decked out in color; Color in Motion is the official people who put on the color run.

My internship couldn’t be more perfect for me! I get to write about something I love doing. Running!

So that’s the exciting news! I hope I didn’t disappoint anyone. ;)

Autumn has begun!

Yesterday was officially the first day of autumn. Bring on the fall foliage! So many things to love about this season, but I’ll just name a few:

Colors, Colors, and more COLORS!

I’ve always wanted to take a road trip up the east coast to see all the colors. One of the places that I would most like to see is Maine. Sounds kind of boring, but the colors are crazy beautiful there!

The cool, fresh breeze in the air

Being from Florida, I’m used to the air getting cold in January. So I love the fact that it’s September and I can actually dress like its fall. The cool air feels so good to breathe in! When the air is cooler, being outside is so much more enjoyable.

Fall Fashion

Dressing for fall is one of my very favorite things! I think I have more fall clothes in my closet then summer clothes.

Family time

I know I just recently got back to Idaho, but I’m already counting down the days until I can fly back home and see my family again. Fall is the start of the holidays and being around loved ones. I’m looking forward to spending time with my family, and all the fun activities we do!

Food

I probably eat more food during fall than any other time of year. I love food! Fall brings out the fat kid inside me. Here's my latest creation: Heath Bar Candy Cake

Snuggling

The colder weather really does bring people together. I love seeing couples cuddle up trying to keep each other warm. Oh, if only Justin lived in Idaho! Then I could be one of those couples. 2 months, just 2 MORE MONTHS! J

These bits and pieces of fall is what I look forward to each year. Every fall is like a new beginning. Create memories, bundle up, and eat something pumpkin!

P.S. This week may be the start of something REALLY exciting so stay tuned. :D

The First Week of School

Well, I survived the first week of school. And now I’m officially drained.

The first week of school is always the longest. I’m still getting used to my schedule and all the things I have to do. I love school though! All my classes are fun! I’m reminded every day I am where I’m supposed to be. My trek to school is a workout, but I don't care because I get to walk past the Temple every day.

First day of school
Rexburg, ID Temple
Being a communications major definitely has its ups and downs, but it seriously is the best major EVER. I’m here, I’m there, I’m everywhere! See for yourself!

This semester I am on the Executive Board of PRSSA, which is a great opportunity. We are headed to San Francisco next month for the PRSSA National Conference. I couldn’t be any more excited!!!

Like last semester, I am also doing I~COMM, but I actually get to do PR work instead of broadcasting work. Today, I covered a local homecoming parade with a fellow classmate for the school district newsletter. I love being involved in the community, and getting my name out there. I’ve always had a passion for writing, and being in PR has really helped me become better. So has writing this blog!

One of the great things about this semester is living in Idaho. I know this sounds weird, but allow me to explain. It’s FALL!!! It’s fall and I’m in Idaho! I actually get to wear boots in September! LOL!

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year! Every morning the air is crisp and cool just the way I like it. I can’t wait for the colors of fall to start forming and that sweet smell that fills the air. For now I will have to deal with the bipolar weather (cold in the morning, hot in the afternoon).

This past week also marked the eleventh anniversary of September 11th. I remember exactly where I was that day. I was in Mrs. Shelton's 6th grade reading class. We were in the library picking out books for a book report, and one of the librarians had the tv on. I remember seeing the image of a plane crashing into one of the Twin Towers, but I didn’t realize how serious the crash was. That day many of my classmates were taken out of school, and that’s when I knew it was more than just a crash.

I will always remember what happened on September 11th, and the lives that were lost. BYU-Idaho had a memorial set up on campus in remembrance for those that we lost. Seeing all those flags around campus reminded me of this great country we live in, and the freedom we have.

The weekend is here, and I am looking forward to SLEEPING. I have enough homework to keep me busy for long time. The start of a new semester makes me set goals for myself. I really only have one goal this semester:

This is actually the quote of my apartment. My roommates and I thought it was fitting for us. It’s important to keep a sense of humor in all things.

Remember: “In all of living have much of fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured.”

Have a great weekend!

Xo

Oh ma goodness!!! I'm engaged!!!

I’M ENGAGED! I’M ENGAGED, and I don’t care who knows it!!! AHH…It feels so weird to say that, but I LOVE it!

My whole childhood revolved around watching Disney movies, so my expectations of love have always been pretty high. Luckily, Justin exceeded my expectations. J

When I first met Justin I had NO idea we would end up engaged. Actually, I had no idea we were even going to really date. Justin is in the Marines so I never thought we would ever work out with him being away all the time. Once I got to know him, I couldn’t help but fall in love with him!

Saturday September, 1st started off really great. Justin and I spent most of the day at the beach. Between catching the waves and soaking up the Florida sunshine, we had so much fun. Later that night we went out to Ocean Walk in Daytona Beach to eat at our favorite restaurant, Bubba Gumps. We had no idea there was such a HUGE party going on at Ocean Walk for Labor Day. There was good music, great food, and amazing entertainment.

After dinner, we went for a walk on the beach. The night was perfect! The weather was great, the moon was shining brightly, and I had the one I love by my side. We found this spot on the beach away from the crowd and the noise, and put a blanket down to sit and enjoy the moment. So many stars were out! I felt so perfectly content lying next to Justin trying to look for a shooting star. Fortunately, we needed no such star!

Justin had been telling me he had gifts for me, and it was FINALLY time for me to have them. He said the gifts represented the past, present, and future. Note to self: Never underestimate someone's creativity with a quirky sense of humor.

The first gift was a book that told a story of us over the past year through pictures. Each picture had a witty caption that made me die of laughter. Some of the sweetest things were written in there. I couldn’t stop smiling.

Next was probably my favorite (besides my ring of course). Recently, when I was watching the Bachelorette, I saw this crazy thing that one of the guys did for Emily. The guy had bought her a bobble head of the two of them. I thought it was the funniest thing! I told Justin it would be awesome if we made bobble heads of ourselves. To my surprise, when I opened the second gift, I saw none other than a bobble head of Justin. Wearing a white tuxedo and holding a gun, it looks just like him.

What happened next was amazing! All of the sudden fireworks started going off like the Fourth of July! With Justin’s arm around me, we watched as each firework burst into colorful explosions. It was incredible!

At that moment I wasn’t sure how life could get any better, but it did. Life got a million times better in a matter of seconds! Once the fireworks died down (and I wasn’t distracted) Justin got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!! My exact words were: “OF COURSE I WILL!!! YES! YES! YES!”

I’ve never been so happy! All my life I’ve dreamed of something like this, but I never thought it would happen to me. I love Justin SO SO much! We have such a fun relationship that consists of A LOT of laughing, and that’s the way I’ve always wanted it to be. As long as we are laughing and joking about things, nothing else matters.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog as much as I enjoyed writing it! I'm super excited to start planning our wedding. It's going to be so fun! I'm going to be busy, busy, busy, planning a wedding and juggling school. I plan to blog through it all though, so stay tuned.

This is only the beginning of our story. J
