The First Week of School

Well, I survived the first week of school. And now I’m officially drained.

The first week of school is always the longest. I’m still getting used to my schedule and all the things I have to do. I love school though! All my classes are fun! I’m reminded every day I am where I’m supposed to be. My trek to school is a workout, but I don't care because I get to walk past the Temple every day.

Being a communications major definitely has its ups and downs, but it seriously is the best major EVER. I’m here, I’m there, I’m everywhere! See for yourself!

This semester I am on the Executive Board of PRSSA, which is a great opportunity. We are headed to San Francisco next month for the PRSSA National Conference. I couldn’t be any more excited!!!

Like last semester, I am also doing I~COMM, but I actually get to do PR work instead of broadcasting work. Today, I covered a local homecoming parade with a fellow classmate for the school district newsletter. I love being involved in the community, and getting my name out there. I’ve always had a passion for writing, and being in PR has really helped me become better. So has writing this blog!

One of the great things about this semester is living in Idaho. I know this sounds weird, but allow me to explain. It’s FALL!!! It’s fall and I’m in Idaho! I actually get to wear boots in September! LOL!

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year! Every morning the air is crisp and cool just the way I like it. I can’t wait for the colors of fall to start forming and that sweet smell that fills the air. For now I will have to deal with the bipolar weather (cold in the morning, hot in the afternoon).

This past week also marked the eleventh anniversary of September 11th. I remember exactly where I was that day. I was in Mrs. Shelton's 6th grade reading class. We were in the library picking out books for a book report, and one of the librarians had the tv on. I remember seeing the image of a plane crashing into one of the Twin Towers, but I didn’t realize how serious the crash was. That day many of my classmates were taken out of school, and that’s when I knew it was more than just a crash.

I will always remember what happened on September 11th, and the lives that were lost. BYU-Idaho had a memorial set up on campus in remembrance for those that we lost. Seeing all those flags around campus reminded me of this great country we live in, and the freedom we have.

The weekend is here, and I am looking forward to SLEEPING. I have enough homework to keep me busy for long time. The start of a new semester makes me set goals for myself. I really only have one goal this semester:

This is actually the quote of my apartment. My roommates and I thought it was fitting for us. It’s important to keep a sense of humor in all things.

Remember: “In all of living have much of fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured.”

Have a great weekend!

Xo
