Before I moved to Rexburg I was an active Florida runner. I
could run for miles no problem. I remember running for the first time in Idaho
and I could barely run a mile because I was so out of breath. The air is so
thin out here! I never really got used to it either. Today, if I walk up stairs
I’m still huffing and puffing when I reach the top. I would call my mom on my
walk home sometimes and she would ask me if I was working out. This is a small
demonstration of my running conditions here in Idaho.
You can probably guess that I didn’t do much running in the
winter months. At least not outside. But, during summer and fall I ran outside
as much as I could. Running is my stress reliever. I love it! Saturday mornings
I would get up a little early and take a long run. I enjoyed exploring new
routes to run and finding pretty scenery. I realized that despite the dullness
of Rexburg, I was surrounded by beautiful scenes of mountains everywhere. While I may not miss the thin air that kept me out of breath, I will miss the beauty I was always surrounded by. Running in Florida won’t give me the same motivation as Idaho did. I pushed myself to run up hills and run far distances. Thanks Idaho for helping me accomplish new running goals and giving me the run of a lifetime.
